Heavy Rainfall in Jharkhand Triggers Weather Concerns, Jamshedpur Records 33 mm Rain
Persistent rainfall across Jharkhand triggers weather concerns, Jamshedpur records 33mm downpour in a single day, causing a dip in the state’s rainfall deficit.
JAMSHEDPUR – In the face of the ongoing heavy rainfall that has gripped the state, Jharkhand’s districts of Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Lohardaga, Simdega, and West Singhbhum have been put under an Orange Alert as per weather predictions.
This comes as a direct outcome of the strengthening regional system and the low-pressure effects from the Bay of Bengal that have been impacting Jharkhand.
Chatra, Hazaribagh, Ranchi, Khunti, Seraikela-Kharsawan, and East Singhbhum districts, on the other hand, have been issued a yellow alert.
In the meantime, Jamshedpur recorded an impressive 33 mm of rain from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm on Wednesday.
On the same day, the city noted high and low temperatures of 27.6 and 26.0 degrees Celsius respectively.
In the broader picture, the state has been experiencing continuous rainfall for the past couple of days, with Kolhan and the rest of Jharkhand being no exceptions.
The persistent showers have led to water seeping into the low-lying areas from the drains.
Further, the state’s rainfall deficit has taken a significant hit, currently standing at 44%, following the widespread and generous showers. It’s observed that the state has received a total of 291 mm of rain, compared to an average of 517 mm.
Moving forward, the weather services predict the continuation of rain throughout the week, thereby signaling towards a healthier rainfall in the coming days as per Abhishek Anand from the Ranchi Center.
