Hemant Soren Critiques Raj Bhavan for Role in Arrest
Soren Claims Conspiracy Behind Custody, Pledges to Fight Injustice
Former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren alleges a planned conspiracy involving Raj Bhavan led to his arrest, vows to counter injustices against marginalized communities.
RANCHI – In a dramatic assertion to the Assembly, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren claimed that his recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was the result of a conspiracy involving Raj Bhavan. Speaking before a trust vote, which his coalition won, Soren voiced a strong message of resilience against perceived injustices towards Adivasis, Dalits, and other marginalized groups in India.
Soren, arrested on January 31 and in ED custody since February 2 over alleged land-related irregularities, described the date of his arrest as a "black chapter" in Indian democracy, marking an unprecedented move against a sitting chief minister.
The JMM leader accused the Raj Bhavan and the Centre of conspiring to prevent a tribal chief minister from completing a five-year term, highlighting a systemic bias against tribal and Dalit communities.
Soren criticized the BJP-led Centre’s attitude towards Adivasis and Dalits, accusing them of wanting to keep these communities marginalized and disconnected from societal progress.
Despite the charges and his current legal challenges, Soren remained defiant, refusing to accept defeat and asserting the spirit of resistance among Jharkhand’s tribal and Dalit populations. He dared the authorities to prove the allegations of corruption in a land deal against him, vowing to leave Jharkhand politics if proven guilty.
Soren’s participation in the trust vote, granted by court permission, underscores his determination to continue his political fight amidst legal hurdles, standing as a symbol of challenge against what he perceives as targeted political actions.
