Scorching Heat Grips Jharkhand Post-Cyclone Remal, Severe Heatwave Alert Issued

Weather Department Warns of Rising Temperatures and Heatwaves in Several Districts

Following Cyclone Remal, Jharkhand, including Kolhan, experienced rapid weather changes leading to scorching heat on Tuesday.

RANCHI – Residents of Jharkhand are experiencing intense heat conditions as temperatures have risen across the state following Cyclone Remal.

Daltonganj experienced scorching temperatures of 47.5 degrees Celsius, which came very close to the record of 47.8 degrees set back in 1978.

Jamshedpur experienced a temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius, while West Singhbhum and Seraikela recorded higher temperatures of 43.3 and 42.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to Dr. Abhishek Anand from the Meteorological Department Ranchi Centre, there is a severe heat and heatwave alert for the state over the next three days.

There is a forecast of a three to five degree increase in temperatures.

Garhwa, Palamu, and Chatra are expected to experience severe heat waves on May 29 and 30.

Several districts, including Koderma, Hazaribagh, and Ranchi, are currently under a yellow alert for heatwaves.

Heatwaves are expected to affect Gumla, Palamu, Chatra, and Latehar on May 31.

Temperatures reached a scorching 40.2°C in Ranchi, a blistering 43.7°C in Chatra, and a sweltering 47.2°C in Garhwa and Palamu on Tuesday.
