Heatwave Alert Issued for Several Districts in Jharkhand

Palamu Records Highest Temperature at 44.2°C, Jamshedpur Experiences Sudden Weather Change

A heatwave alert has been issued for various districts in Jharkhand, with Palamu recording the highest temperature at 44.2°C, while Jamshedpur experienced a sudden change in weather conditions, including drizzle and storm in the evening.

RANCHI – Several parts of Jharkhand, including the Kolhan region and Jamshedpur, witnessed an abrupt shift in weather patterns on Tuesday evening.

Although the morning was sunny, Jamshedpur and its neighboring areas experienced light rainfall and storm conditions during the evening hours.

Palamu district recorded the highest temperature in the state, reaching a sweltering 44.2 degrees Celsius. In contrast, Jamshedpur’s maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 40.2°C and 26.2°C, respectively.

Thirteen districts in Jharkhand experienced temperatures surpassing 40 degrees Celsius.

By 5:30 pm, several districts, such as Ranchi, Giridih, Hazaribagh, Jamtara, Latehar, and Ramgarh, reported light rainfall.

Heatwave Alert for June 5

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for June 5, targeting the northwestern and central regions of Jharkhand.

The alert encompasses districts like Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Koderma, Latehar, Lohardaga, Ranchi, Bokaro, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Khunti, and Ramgarh.

Simultaneously, the northeastern parts of the state, including Deoghar, Dhanbad, Dumka, Giridih, Godda, Jamtara, and Sahebganj, are expected to experience thunderstorms accompanied by rain.

According to the IMD forecast, wind speeds during this period are likely to fluctuate between 30 and 40 kilometers per hour.

Local resident Arun Singh commented, "While the sudden weather change has provided some respite from the intense heat, the heatwave alert for multiple districts remains a concern."
