Electric Buses to Connect Patna via Atal Path

New Route to Cut Travel Time and Ease Traffic

Key Points:

  • Four electric buses to run from Gandhi Maidan
  • Travel time to Rajivnagar cut to 10 minutes
  • Five lakh residents gain first direct transport

PATNA – New electric buses in Patna will cut travel time and expand access across major routes.

The transport department has approved four electric luxury buses. These buses will operate from Gandhi Maidan starting May.

Meanwhile, the route will pass through Atal Path and JP Setu. It will connect Sonpur and Hajipur railway stations.

However, the biggest benefit will be for residents along Atal Path. Nearly five lakh people will gain direct public transport access.

Moreover, this project is part of the PM e-bus service scheme. Officials plan to complete the survey within this month.

In contrast, current travel routes consume much more time. Commuters now take nearly one hour for similar distances.

Meanwhile, the new buses will reduce travel time sharply. The journey from Patna Junction to Rajivnagar will take ten minutes.

Moreover, the proposed route number is likely to be 444A. Buses will stop at around 15 designated locations.

However, each stop will last for about two minutes. This ensures smooth and faster movement across the corridor.

On the other hand, many areas lacked affordable transport options. Residents depended on private vehicles and costly autos.

Meanwhile, the new service will cover over 20 localities. These include Patna Junction, Kurji, Digha Bazaar, and Pataliputra Colony.

Moreover, areas like Keshari Nagar and Patel Nagar will benefit. This expansion improves connectivity across urban zones.

However, fares will remain affordable for daily commuters. The department aims to provide cost-effective mobility.

In contrast, 12 buses already operate via Gandhi Setu. The new route via JP Setu offers an alternative path.

Meanwhile, this route is expected to reduce congestion significantly. It will also improve travel towards North Bihar.

Moreover, the buses will be fully electric and eco-friendly. This supports cleaner urban transport initiatives in Patna.
