Five Naxalites Arrested in West Singhbhum; Weapons and Explosives Recovered
Security forces in West Singhbhum arrested five Naxalites, seizing weapons and explosives.
CHAIBASA – Security forces have arrested five Naxalites during an ongoing anti-Naxal operation in West Singhbhum district.
Among the arrested are three Naxalites who were involved in an attack on the bodyguards of former MLA Gurcharan Nayak and a magazine godown robbery case in Noamundi.
The arrested Maoists include 30-year-old Jai Singh Angaria, alias Rautu Angaria, 36-year-old Madan Angaria, 20-year-old Abhishek Hansda alias Matlu alias Chowde, and 20-year-old Sukhlal Bada alias Chada, all residents of the Tonto police station area.
30-year-old Mone Tiyu, a resident of Goilkera police station area, was also arrested.
District Police Force and CRPF have arrested these five Maoists during the operation.
Some Naxalites escaped by taking advantage of the jungle.
Many items including weapons have been recovered from the possession of the arrested Naxalites.
Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar said that Naxalites were reported to be roaming around Gaonburu forest in the Tonto police station area, after which five were arrested by a team formed under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Abhiyan.
These individuals also planted IEDs to harm the security forces and kept an eye on police activities.
The SP noted that explosives and other items were recovered at the instance of the arrested Maoists.
From the security perspective, the explosives have been destroyed by the BDDS team on the spot.
