SDM Piyush Sinha issues Section 144 order, prohibiting public and animals from nearing the river banks of Kharkai and Swarnrekha.

The general prohibitory order under Section 144 explicitly states that no person shall approach the river banks without permission from competent officers.

The order is a result of a substantial increase in water levels of the Kharkai and Swarnrekha rivers due to excessive rainfall.

The directive from SDM Sinha outlines the potential danger to human life, health, and well-being if individuals venture near the river banks.

There is also a possibility of public peace disturbance under these circumstances.

To uphold safety and public peace, SDM Piyush Sinha has exercised his powers to pass the prohibitory order under Section 144 of the CrPC.

This ex-parte order is in effect from the afternoon of August 2, 2023, until the morning of August 5, 2023.

The general public and animal herders are expected to adhere to these orders, thereby ensuring their safety during this period of elevated water levels.
