Police Encounter with Criminals in Giridih Leads to Shooting, Criminal Sent to RIMS for Treatment

An encounter between the police and criminals resulted in a shooting incident early Saturday morning in Kolimaran, Giridih.

GIRIDIH – A confrontation between criminals and law enforcement officers in Kolimaran under the Muffasil police station area of Giridih unfolded in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Several rounds of gunfire were exchanged during the encounter, with one criminal reported injured.

The Encounter Detailed

According to reports, an unidentified vehicle was spotted by a patrolling police unit from the Muffasil police station. Upon seeing the unfamiliar vehicle, the officers signaled for it to halt for routine checking. However, the vehicle drove into Kolimaran via Tinkonia, getting stuck in mud.

The criminals then began firing at the police, triggering a retaliation that led to the reported injury of one criminal. The injured party has been referred to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi for medical treatment.

A vehicle was also seized in the aftermath of the encounter, and the site remains under police watch.

The Investigation

DSP Sanjay Rana disclosed that an investigation is underway, exploring both criminal and Naxalite angles to the incident. The complete narrative will be established after a thorough investigation. He confirmed that the first shot was fired from the criminals’ side, prompting police to fire back in self-defense.

The law enforcement is currently in search of the injured person’s mobile, hopeful that it would shed more light on the incident.
