Key Points:
- Manish Singh arrested from Golden Leaf Resort in Chandil, Seraikela-Kharsawan
- SSP had suspended previous SHO over failure to arrest the accused
- New in-charge Ghulam Rabbani makes arrest within 24 hours of assuming charge
JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur Police arrested a long-absconding criminal, Manish Singh, from a resort in the neighbouring district of Seraikela-Kharsawan early Wednesday morning.
Manish Singh was apprehended by police from the Golden Leaf Resort located in the Chandil police station area. He had been named as an accused in multiple cases and had been evading arrest for some time.
Two days prior, the SSP had expressed strong displeasure over the failure to arrest Manish Singh. He subsequently suspended the Jugsalai police station’s previous in-charge and appointed Ghulam Rabbani as the new station in-charge.
Within 24 hours of assuming charge, Rabbani acted on a tip-off. He led a team to the Golden Leaf Resort and successfully detained the wanted accused.
Despite repeated earlier attempts, police had been unable to track down Manish Singh. However, the change in leadership at the police station appeared to yield swift results.
The operation is being viewed as a significant success for Jamshedpur Police. Meanwhile, an official statement from the police is yet to be issued.
“The accused had been slipping through our net for too long,” said a source close to the investigation. “The new in-charge made it a priority from day one.”
