Protest March against Development Projects and Proposed Development Corridor Begins in Jamshedpur
Jharkhand Punarutthan Abhiyan initiates a padyatra, protesting against proposed development corridor, the Khairbani Garbage Plant and HMV Training Centre.
JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand Punarutthan Abhiyan started a protest march on Fridayin Jamshedpur against the proposed Heavy Motor Vehicle Training Centre, Khairbani Garbage Plant, and the development corridor being constructed in Manpita.
This padyatra (foot-march) is being led by the Jharkhand Punarutthan Abhiyan.
The padyatra kicked off from Khairbani at 7 am and passed through various areas such as Khakkaripada, Govindpur Anna Chowk, Kharangajhar, Ghorabandha, Manpita, Birsanagar Sunday Market, and Baridih.
At Sakchi Gol Chakkar, the marchers laid wreaths and held a gathering at the statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
After the meeting, the padayatra proceeded towards Karandih, passing through the Howrah Bridge, Burmamines, and Tatanagar station.
The protestors will rest here overnight before continuing their journey.
The participants shared that the march aims to reach Veer Bhoomi, the martyr’s place at Dubri, Kalinganagar, by 21st June.
After a concluding meeting at this location, the padyatra will officially end.
