JAMSHEDPUR -An intensive operation on Jamshedpur’s Mango Dimna Road saw the removal of more than 100 hut-like shops, marking another significant step in the city’s campaign against encroachment.

Bulldozers tore through the illegal structures, clearing a significant stretch of the busy road.

This follows a recent drive that saw half of Dimna Road beautified after a similar encroachment removal initiative.

Notices had been served in advance to the remaining shopkeepers, notifying them of the upcoming operation.

This is part of an ongoing effort to reclaim and enhance public spaces in the city.

Future plans for the newly cleared area include the construction of a park and an open gym, aiming to provide residents with improved public amenities.

Even earlier several anti-enroachment drives were conducted in the city, especially in Sakchi and Mango areas.

The administration has made it clear that such drives would be conducted even in future and the public spaces would be reclaimed from encroachers.

Officials say that these drives are being carried out for improving the urban infrastructure in the greater interest of the public and the urban environment in Jamshedpur.

However, the action has also been drawing criticism from different corners, including political leaders.

The Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy had earlier opposed such drives on the grounds that no vendor should be displaced without considering the option of resettling them as it violated rules.

He had said that any such action should be done in a legal and lawful manner considering the human aspects too.
