Devotees pray to Astachalgami Surya on 3rd day of Chaiti Chhath Festival in Jamshedpur
Jamshedpur: As Arghya (puja) was offered to a declining (setting) Bhagwan Surya, the third day of the four-day Chaiti Chhath celebration, which is an important occasion for the local communities, came to an end.
On Monday, worshippers paid their respects to the Astachalgami Surya Dev (a Sun god in declining or setting condition) by congregating at sacred rivers and reservoirs and bringing offerings of Sup and Daura (baskets woven from bamboo leaves)..

At the Adityapur Kharkai river bank in Seraikela district, the Sidhgora Surya Mandir in Jamshedpur, and the Mango Swarnrekha Ghat, a large number of devotees gathered to pray to Surya Dev for prosperity, happiness, and peace.
On Tuesday, the 36-hour waterless fast of the devotees who participated in the Chaiti Chhath festival will come to an end when they offer Arghya to the rising sun.
The Chhath festival, a significant occasion symbolizing Hindu faith, is observed for four days with great fervor and devotion.
