Jamshedpur: The world’s biggest vaccination drive would be launched in the country on Saturday, January 16, 2021. East Singhbhum too has made elaborate arrangements for the vaccination drive.
Vaccination would be launched in MGMCH as well as TMH. The vaccination drive would be launched by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi himself.
In the first phase, health care workers are to be vaccinated against novel coronavirus, while other vulnerable groups too would be vaccinated in the next phases.
The Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbum Suraj Kumar today visited MGMCH and TMH and took stock of the preparations.
The Deputy Commissioner inspected the preparations for keeping the vaccines safe, arrangements for vaccination and ice-conditioning as well as documentation.
The DC said that MGMCH’s website has been marked for 2-way communication. TMH too would launch vaccination drive.
The Deputy Commissioner said that all preparations have been made to make the vaccination drive a success.
He said that the training of the vaccinators has been completed and the persons to be vaccinated in the first phase too have been identified.
He said that an elaborate database of the health workers is already in place.
Second phase would be for vaccination of frontline workers and their debase is being readied.
He said that the preparations for the third phase would depend on what instructions are issued by the central and state government.
He said that according to the directives of the government, one of the sanitation workers would be vaccinated first at both the vaccination centres on Saturday to kick off the first phase of vaccination drive.
He said that each vaccination centre would have 3 rooms – waiting area, vaccination room and observation room.
The Civil Surgeon Dr. R N Jha said that 100 health workers would be vaccinated on each vaccination centre on the first day. He said that Covishield vaccine would be used on both the centres.
The vaccination drive would be launched soon after the Prime Minister’s address and launching of Covishield vaccine in New Delhi.
Those who are vaccinated tomorrow would be given a booster vaccine after 28 days.
The covishield vaccine is being shipped out by Serum Institute of India and has been developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca.
