Jamshedpur: The rituals of Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra 2020 have begun today. Millions of devotees are expected to watch the yatra on TV as DD and private TV channels will be telecasting the events.

Here is a DD link where the Rath Yatra can be watched live.

After the SC order to allow the annual holy yatra of Bhagwan Jagannath, all the hurdles have been removed and the devotees would now be able to watch the entire event live on DD-Odia, DD Bharati as well as DD India. Some private TV channels will also be telecasting it.

Every year lakhs of people take part in the Rath Yatra and people generally flock the roads of Puri. However, owing to the extraordinary circumstances caused by Corona pandemic, this year limited number of people would be allowed to take part in the Rath Yatra rituals.

Earlier on Monday, the Supreme Court of India asked the government of Odisha to make all required arrangements to ensure that Rath Yatra is conducted from June 23 in a restricted manner keeping sight of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The court also asked the government to impose curfew in Puri during the Rath Yatra. Following these directives, the government of Odisha imposed a shutdown in entire Puri district from Monday 9 pm till Wednesday 2 pm.

It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court in its June 18 order had said that the Puri Rath Yatra this year cannot be allowed keeping the interests of public health and safety in mind.

The CJI Bobde had famously remarked: “Lord Jagannath won’t forgive us if we allow it.”

However, things changed rapidly as the public pressure mounted on both the state and central government. Both the governments later changed their stand and supported the conduct of Rath Yatra.

The Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appearing for the centre said: “It is a matter of faith for crores. If Lord Jagannath will not come tomorrow, he cannot come out for 12 years as per traditions.”

With the SC verdict, roads were cleared for the Rath Yatra, though with restrictions.

Amit Shah along with other important leaders have greeted the devotees on the auspicious occasion Rath Yatra.

The President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind, has also greeted the people on Rath Yatra.

There is a lot of enthusiasm in Jamshedpur too over Rath Yatra. Thousands of people are watching the Rath Yatra on TV and internet. Many eminent personalities have greeted the devotees on the occasion of Rath Yatra.

Vipin Adesara of Keshavji Chhaganlal Jewellers has also greeted the people of Jamshedpur on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra.

Keshavji Chhaganlal Jewellers have also issued a special poster to mark the occasion.
