District police launch awareness drive against safety and distancing norms violators

FIR may be registered against those who do not wear mask at public places

Jamshedpur: The district police today launched a special campaign to urge people to follow all the guidelines relating to Covid-19 to ensure that the spread of the Covid-19 is controlled as much as possible.

The SSP of East Singhbhum, Dr M Tamil Vanan and the City SP, Subhas Chandra Jat, themselves led this awareness campaign.

This awareness campaign has been launched on the instructions of the DGP of the state. It was carried out at different check-posts in the city.

The police team confronted those who were either not wearing a mask or were double-riding on a bike violating the social distancing norms in the process. Such people were stopped and were directed to follow all the social distancing norms. They were also warned of legal action if caught violating the norms next time.

The SSP, Dr. M Tamil Vanan said that the purpose of this special campaign is to make people aware of the need to continue following social distancing norms as well as safety precautions.

He said that only following safety protocols and preventive action can thwart this disease. He said that initially people are being warned, but later the police will not hesitate in taking action. Even FIRs can be registered against those who do not wear masks at public places, he said.

The number of Covid-19 positive patients has been on the rise in the state as well as the city and the administration is taking all steps to ensure that the rise in numbers are kept under check to the extent possible.
