Trailer Union Declares Protest for Better Pay and Medical Benefits
Key Points:
- Drivers demand ₹40,000 monthly salary and medical facilities
- Union threatens indefinite strike if demands are unmet
- Current wages are ₹10-12K; drivers struggle for livelihood
JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur Local Trailer Owners Union has announced a protest demanding higher wages, increased commissions, and medical facilities for trailer drivers and their families.
Union President Jai Kishore Singh stated that trailer drivers currently earn a mere ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 monthly. This makes it difficult for them to meet daily expenses. He added that the union will fight relentlessly to ensure drivers get their rightful dues.
Key Demands Raised
The union’s primary demands include a minimum monthly salary of ₹40,000 and 26 guaranteed trips each month. They are also calling for increased commission rates for drivers and better medical facilities for drivers and their families.
Strike Threat If Demands Ignored
Jai Kishore Singh accused Tata Company management of offering empty assurances by engaging vendors to delay solutions. He emphasized that the union is prepared for a decisive battle. If their demands are not fulfilled, drivers will stage an indefinite strike by halting all trailer operations.
The union reiterated that without necessary wage hikes and medical provisions, the drivers’ financial struggles and health issues will persist. Singh warned that the protest will continue until their demands are met.
