JAMSHEDPUR – Sakchi police have successfully dismantled a vehicle theft gang, arresting five individuals and recovering 19 stolen vehicles, highlighting the operation’s significant impact on local criminal activities.
The apprehended suspects include the gang’s alleged ringleader, Rajeev Bhagat, known as Aadu from Burmamines, and accomplices Rajan Das, Ronit Deep alias Polio from Telco Mahanand Basti, Vishal Das, and Shambhu Paswan.
A key piece of evidence in the case, a master key used for the thefts, was among the items recovered during the operation.
City SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat detailed the investigative process, noting that the breakthrough came after a stolen scooter was discovered abandoned, leading to Bhagat’s arrest and the subsequent apprehension of his associates.
The investigation revealed the gang’s method of operation, where stolen vehicles were pawned off and later sold at higher prices, with the proceeds divided among the members.
This bust represents a significant victory for local law enforcement in combating vehicle theft and dismantling criminal networks within the community.
