JAMSHEDPUR – The Railway Board has announced the approval of a new weekly train service between Tatanagar and Jaynagar, set to commence operations soon.

This train aims to improve regional connectivity and facilitate travel for passengers between Jharkhand and Bihar.

Train Schedule

The train will depart from Tatanagar at 6:50 PM on Fridays and arrive at Jasidih/Baidyanath Dham railway station at 3:00 AM on Saturday morning, before reaching Jaynagar at 11:25 AM.

On its return journey, the train will leave Jaynagar at 7:30 PM on Saturdays, arrive at Jasidih at 3:00 AM on Sunday, and return to Tatanagar at 11:30 AM.

Community Response

Dr. Nishikant Dubey, MP from Godda, welcomed the new service, stating, “The introduction of this train from Tatanagar to Jaynagar/Darbhanga is a significant development for regional connectivity. This initiative, led by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, represents a major step forward.”

Shashank Shekhar Swain, a member of the Indian Railways Fan Club (IRFCA) & IndiaRailInfo (IRI), also praised the decision, highlighting its benefits for passengers traveling to the Darbhanga region in Bihar.

Addressing Longstanding Demand

The new train service addresses a longstanding demand from approximately 4 lakh residents in areas such as Darbhanga, Madhubani, Jaynagar, Sakri, and the Terai area of Nepal.

These communities have been advocating for a direct railway link to these culturally significant locations, emphasizing the need for improved connectivity.

Cultural Significance

The initiative gains further importance with the Prime Minister’s recent announcements regarding the development of the Sita Corridor and other key cultural sites near Jaynagar during his visit to Nepal.

The Mithila Rail Sangharsh Samiti, representing Hindu, Muslim, and Nepali communities, has emphasized the railway’s role in maintaining cultural ties, with their strong message of “no train, no vote” for the upcoming MP elections underscoring their determination.

Looking Ahead

The introduction of the Tatanagar-Jaynagar train is expected to enhance regional connectivity, facilitating travel and strengthening cultural ties between Jharkhand and Bihar.

The community’s anticipation and support for this service reflect its importance in addressing their travel needs and cultural connections.
