GAMHARIA – The Gamharia police station recovered five stolen mobile phones under the Project Device scheme and handed them over to their owners on Sunday. Officer-in-charge Sanjay Prasad said the police team launched a technical search after receiving complaints from the owners about their missing phones.
The phones belonged to five residents from different localities in the area. T N Venkatesan of Dheerajganj, Surajit Mahato of Saldih and Gangaram Murmu of Ramchandrapur were among those whose devices were traced.
Indushekhar Singh of Indraprastha Colony and Dhananjay Kaibarta also got their phones back. The police team used technical surveillance to track down the stolen devices before returning them to their rightful owners.
The owners expressed relief upon receiving their phones back. “We are extremely thankful to the Gamharia police for their prompt action,” said one of the device owners after the handover. All five residents thanked the Gamharia police for the recovery effort.
Police stations across the Seraikela-Kharsawan district have increasingly relied on technical tracking methods to trace stolen mobile phones in recent months. The Project Device initiative forms part of a broader push by Jharkhand police to use call detail records and device tracking software to recover lost or stolen electronic devices and return them to complainants.
