  • Incident reported near Kolbonga village in Saranda forest
  • Rescue efforts ongoing as condition remains critical

JAMSHEDPUR – A wild elephant lies critically injured after a suspected explosion in Saranda forest of West Singhbhum district.

The incident occurred in Saranda forest under Manoharpur block. It falls near Kolbonga village in the Chaibasa region.

Meanwhile, villagers had gone to catch fish on Sunday evening. They noticed the injured elephant lying inside Ankua compartment forest area.

However, they immediately alerted the forest department officials. The team soon reached the site and began monitoring the situation.

According to forest sources, a blast had occurred two days earlier. It was reported near Ponga junction in the Chiriya outpost area.

Moreover, officials suspect the same explosion caused the elephant’s injuries. The animal is believed to have been hurt during that incident.

On the other hand, veterinary officer Dr. Sanjay Gholatkar confirmed earlier injury signs. He stated the elephant had been suffering for several days.

Meanwhile, the elephant is unable to walk properly. Its condition remains extremely critical at present.

However, forest teams are continuing rescue efforts at the site. They are closely observing the animal and attempting treatment.

In contrast, officials fear the chances of survival are low. The injuries appear severe due to the explosive impact.

Moreover, Saranda forest is known for frequent Maoist activity zones. Such regions have earlier reported hidden explosive devices.

Meanwhile, such incidents highlight growing risks to wildlife safety. Explosives in forest areas pose threats to both animals and humans.
