JAMSHEDPUR – A 50-year-old man died after a wild elephant attack near Kukru village in Chandil area.

A middle-aged man died after a wild elephant attack in the Chandil region of Seraikela-Kharsawan district. The incident occurred in Kukru village under the forest range.

Meanwhile, villagers discovered a body lying near the settlement early Monday morning. They quickly alerted forest officials and local police.

However, authorities reached the site soon after receiving information. They took custody of the body and sent it for postmortem.

According to locals, the victim was identified as Muni Ram Gorai. He had gone towards the block premises on Sunday evening.

Moreover, villagers said he was returning home late evening. During his return, he encountered wild elephants on the route.

In contrast, eyewitness accounts suggest the elephants attacked suddenly. The victim was reportedly thrown to the ground and died on the spot.

Meanwhile, residents stated that two elephants have been roaming nearby. This has created fear across the area.

On the other hand, people are avoiding stepping out after sunset. Many families remain indoors during evening hours.

However, forest officials have started compensation procedures for the victim’s family. They also urged villagers to remain alert and avoid isolated movement.

Moreover, repeated elephant sightings have increased panic in the Chandil region. Locals are demanding a long-term solution.

In addition, villagers asked authorities to drive elephants away from populated areas. They stressed the need for immediate preventive measures.
