JAMSHEDPUR – An elderly resident was deceived by imposters posing as police officers and lost his jewelry in a daytime fraud incident.

The incident occurred in the Jugsalai area of Jamshedpur on Tuesday. The victim was identified as 70-year-old Anil Nev.

Meanwhile, the crime took place near Ghora Chowk. It happened outside a firecracker shop near Kailash Tower.

According to reports, two young men arrived on a motorcycle. They approached the elderly man and claimed to be police officers.

However, they warned him about rising chain snatching cases. They advised him to remove his jewelry for safety.

Meanwhile, trusting their claim, the man removed his ring and chain. He started wrapping them in paper as instructed.

However, the suspects quickly snatched the wrapped jewelry. They fled immediately from the scene.

Meanwhile, panic spread in the locality after the incident. A formal complaint was filed at Jugsalai police station.

Police initiated a swift investigation after the report. Officers began reviewing nearby CCTV footage.

Moreover, initial findings showed the suspects fled toward Gamharia. Their movement has been traced up to that route.

Meanwhile, station in-charge Ghulam Rabbani confirmed ongoing tracking. He stated further footage is being examined.

However, police expressed confidence in early arrests. Efforts are underway to identify the culprits.
