MLA Saryu Roy Urges Alternatives for Mango Street Vendors

Calls for Solutions Before Eviction of Vendors on Dimna Road

Key Points:

  • MLA Saryu Roy demands alternate arrangements for Mango street vendors.

  • Denies vendors are responsible for traffic congestion in the area.

  • Urges removal of illegal structures, including Congress office, first.

JAMSHEDPUR – Saryu Roy, the newly elected MLA of Jamshedpur West, has urged the administration to provide alternative arrangements for street vendors selling vegetables along Dimna Road in Mango before displacing them.

Roy stated that evicting these vendors without proper relocation would inconvenience hundreds of families who rely on them daily for fresh vegetables. He suggested designating a central area along Dimna Road as a viable alternative for the vendors.

No Link Between Vendors and Traffic Jams

Countering claims that vendors cause traffic congestion, Roy clarified that the Mango area’s traffic issues are unrelated to street vending activities. He emphasized that blaming the vendors was unwarranted.

Roy called for the removal of illegal structures first, specifically mentioning the Congress office near Gandhi Maidan on New Purulia Road. He noted that several unauthorized constructions around the office contribute to encroachments.

Administration’s Recent Action

Earlier, the Mango Municipal Corporation had conducted a drive to clear encroachments on Dimna Road, citing traffic woes caused by vehicles parked haphazardly and roadside vendors. The operation aimed to ensure free movement and prevent future encroachments.

Roy highlighted the need for a dedicated market area for Mango residents and called upon the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner to address the matter seriously.
