JAMSHEDPUR – A young man was critically wounded in a knife attack near a mosque in the Kapali OP area of Jamshedpur on Saturday, which was Eid.
The incident took place close to Abu Bakar Mosque in Taj Nagar. The victim was identified as Ramzan, a resident of the locality. He earns his living doing Paris Putthi work, according to local sources.
The trouble began when Ramzan got into an argument with another youth. The reason for the dispute has not been officially disclosed. However, the confrontation quickly turned violent.
During the knife attack in Kapali, the accused allegedly pulled out a blade and stabbed Ramzan multiple times. As a result, Ramzan suffered severe injuries. He was left bleeding at the scene.
Bystanders acted swiftly and rushed the wounded man to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. Meanwhile, Ramzan’s condition was reported as serious by hospital staff.
On learning of the incident, police reached the spot without delay. Officers from the Kapali OP launched a probe into the matter. According to a local source, “The accused fled immediately after the attack and has not been traced yet.”
In Jamshedpur, knife attacks during festivals and public gatherings have been a recurring concern in certain localities. In addition, the Kapali OP area has seen similar assault cases in previous years as well.
Police are currently conducting raids across multiple locations. The search for the suspect is ongoing. Moreover, the stabbing case has been registered and the investigation is underway.
Locals in Taj Nagar expressed concern over the incident near the mosque. The occurrence of violence on a religious occasion drew widespread reaction in the neighbourhood.
