JAMSHEDPUR – Savarna Mahasangh Foundation of India has sought reconsideration of a recent UGC notification.

The organization issued a letter to the central government. It questioned the intent of the notification.

The letter said laws must ensure justice for all sections. It warned against imbalance favouring any single group.

The organization referred to controversies around the initial draft. It said OBC inclusion was missing earlier.

Later, OBC groups were included in the notification. However, concerns still remain, the letter stated.

The organization objected to the absence of punishment provisions. It flagged lack of penalties for false complaints.

It said this omission was objectionable. It warned misuse could occur without deterrent provisions.

The letter warned of fear in academic campuses. It also cited dissatisfaction and inequality risks.

The organization referred to India’s estimated population of 140 crore. It said general category rights must not be ignored.

It said constitutional rights apply to all citizens. No group’s rights should be overlooked, it added.

The organization demanded rollback of the notification. It sought a balanced and just policy framework.

It asked the Centre to consider student rights across categories. It emphasised fairness and constitutional balance.

The letter also issued a warning. It said democratic and constitutional protests would follow otherwise.

The notification relates to higher education governance. The organization urged wider consultation.

Several academic institutions across Jamshedpur have hosted policy-linked activities earlier.

These include career counseling events.

The campus also handled election preparation exercises.

Authorities ensured safety during EVM security arrangements.

Officials earlier conducted reviews during Lok Sabha preparations.
