- Multiple fire tenders deployed as flames spread rapidly
JAMSHEDPUR – A fire erupted at a tyre godown near railway tracks close to Jugsalai Crossing roundabout in Jugsalai, creating panic in the area as flames and smoke became visible from a distance.
The administration had recently cleared tyre shops from footpaths. This action was taken ahead of the President’s scheduled visit. Shop owners temporarily stored their tyres behind the railway boundary. The fire reportedly started in this makeshift storage area.
Fire department vehicles rushed to the spot immediately. However, firefighters faced significant challenges controlling the blaze. The flames spread rapidly through the stacked tyres.
The incident site lies along the President’s planned route. The presidential convoy will pass through this route on Monday. It will head toward Karnadih Jaherathan during the visit.
Security agencies are monitoring the situation closely. Moreover, additional security measures have been deployed in the area. Authorities have launched an investigation into the fire’s cause.
The Tatanagar region has witnessed several fire incidents in recent months. In November, a new car caught fire near Ghoda Chowk in Jugsalai. Similarly, a hyva truck burned on Potka Road earlier this month.
In 2023, a transport godown fire in Jugsalai caused hours of chaos. On the other hand, a garbage dump fire near Tapadia Flat required combined efforts from locals.
The fire department continues battling the current blaze. Meanwhile, preventive measures are being strengthened across the route. Officials have cordoned off the affected area as operations continue.
