SCCI Calls for Urgent Restoration of Fire Hydrant System in Jamshedpur Markets

Chamber appeals to East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner following recent market fires.

SCCI requests immediate action from the Deputy Commissioner to restore the fire hydrant system in Jamshedpur markets, emphasizing the need for safety measures.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has made an urgent request to East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal to restore the fire hydrant system in Jamshedpur markets promptly.

This request follows recent fire incidents in Sakchi and Burmamines markets, which have raised significant concerns about safety.

Honorary General Secretary Manav Kedia highlighted the necessity for immediate fire prevention measures, emphasizing the urgent need to reactivate the fire hydrant system.

President Vijay Anand Moonka stressed the potential severe consequences of uncontrolled fires, underscoring the essential role of the hydrant system in mitigating such emergencies.

The proposed system would provide an essential backup water supply to support firefighting efforts, ensuring continuous fire management capabilities.

Previously installed by Tata Steel, the dormant system now requires prompt reactivation to enhance the city’s firefighting infrastructure.

The Chamber’s appeal also extended to Tata Steel, JNAC, Jugsalai Municipality, and Mango Municipal Corporation, urging coordinated efforts to quickly restore the fire hydrant system.

Their collective action aims to prevent future fire tragedies and protect the well-being of Jamshedpur’s residents and businesses.

A representative from SCCI stated, "Restoring the fire hydrant system is crucial for ensuring the safety of life and property in our markets."
