JAMSHEDPUR – MGM police arrested a criminal planning murder with an illegal country-made pistol from Turiyabeda village near DPS School.
Patamda DSP Bachandev Kujur announced the arrest on Monday. He revealed senior police superintendent received confidential information on Sunday. A youth was hiding illegal weapons at home.
The suspect was planning a major crime incident. Police formed a raid team on superintendent’s orders. MGM station in-charge led the joint operation.
The team conducted raids at Turiyabeda village. Rahul Mahato was arrested red-handed with a country-made pistol. Moreover, the operation proved successful in preventing potential violence.
Mahato worked as bar tender at Lead Hotel. The hotel is located in Dadar-Khandala, Mumbai. He secured employment there in July 2025.
Mahato helped Karma alias Karmadev Sharma get similar work. Sharma hails from Sankosai under Olidih police jurisdiction. However, Sharma filed false complaints against Mahato later.
The hotel general manager terminated Mahato’s employment. The dismissal angered Mahato significantly. A dispute erupted between both former colleagues.
Mahato threatened to kill Sharma during confrontation. He purchased the country-made pistol from Bihar subsequently. The weapon was hidden at his residence.
He was arranging bullets for the firearm. Police arrested him on Monday with illegal weapon. The suspect has previous criminal history records.
Mahato previously served jail time in Turiyabeda village. He was involved in theft cases earlier. His accomplices also faced legal action then.
DSP stated serious investigation is underway currently. Police are gathering information about criminal connections. Additionally, interrogation is revealing more details about activities.
The accused will be sent to judicial custody. Authorities continue probing his other criminal links. Jamshedpur police remain vigilant against organized crime networks.
Recent arrests include mobile snatchers in Burmamines area. Police also cracked firing cases in various localities. Furthermore, authorities busted vehicle theft gangs operating in the city.
