India, South Africa squads land in Ranchi for JSCA ODI

Teams escorted to hotel under tight security in Ranchi

Key Points:

  • Large crowds gather at Ranchi airport
  • Players moved to hotel amid heavy security
  • Excitement builds for JSCA ODI on Nov 30

RANCHI – Cricket fans thronged the Ranchi airport as both squads arrived for the ODI.

The India and South Africa teams reached Ranchi ahead of the November 30 ODI at the JSCA International Stadium. However, officials kept movement tight due to rising crowd pressure.

Both squads landed at Birsa Munda Airport in the afternoon. Moreover, officers quickly formed a secure corridor for player transit. The players were guided to waiting buses soon after arrival.

The teams were then driven straight to Radisson Blu Hotel. However, the convoy moved under layered police cover. Two escort vehicles trailed the buses, and a monitoring team stayed in contact with airport security.

A large crowd had gathered around the terminal gates. Moreover, many fans held posters and waved flags. Some waited for hours hoping to see their favourite stars. “We came early just to catch one glimpse,” said a local fan.

The coming match is expected to draw a packed JSCA crowd. In addition, ticket sales saw a steady rise across the city. The stadium has hosted several high-profile games in the past. Besides, Ranchi often records sharp surges in footfall during major fixtures.

A look at recent excitement in the city shows how matches spark local buzz. For example, earlier cricket fervor had surged before a major Test. Meanwhile, fans queued early when tickets opened for another series. In addition, authorities had strengthened tight security during earlier fixtures. On the other hand, a rain forecast once slowed stadium buildup. Moreover, the venue itself saw focus when the JSCA stadium featured in a major season schedule.

The ODI is set to begin in the afternoon. However, authorities may adjust gate timings based on early crowd behaviour. Local agencies have prepared separate entry channels for both teams.
