GHATSHILA – Chief Minister Hemant Soren and MLA Kalpana Soren led separate roadshows for JMM candidate Sumit Soren on the final day of campaigning for the Ghatshila by-election.

The Chief Minister held his roadshow in Someshwar. This area falls within Ghatshila’s urban zone. Meanwhile, Kalpana Soren campaigned in Jadugoda-Musabani region.

Both leaders appealed for overwhelming support. They urged voters to back the JMM candidate Sumit Soren. The roadshows marked the conclusion of active campaigning.

Hemant Soren expressed confidence in his party’s prospects. He said people continue trusting their candidate. The CM claimed voters won’t fall for opposition tactics.

“Our candidate will register a record victory,” he stated. However, he did not specify the expected margin. The Chief Minister emphasized growing public support for JMM.

Kalpana Soren focused on connecting with rural voters. She highlighted development promises made by the party. Moreover, she stressed the importance of high voter turnout.

The Ghatshila by-election has become a prestige battle. Both major parties invested significant campaign resources. In addition, multiple roadshows were conducted across constituencies.

The JMM deployed 40 star campaigners earlier. This included senior party leaders and ministers. Furthermore, extensive ground-level mobilization was undertaken throughout the constituency.

Opposition parties also intensified their campaign efforts. The BJP brought outside support for their candidate. On the other hand, JMM relied on local leadership.

The voting is scheduled for November 13. Results will be declared on November 23. Besides, nearly 2.5 lakh voters are eligible to cast ballots.

The by-election follows the resignation of previous MLA. Sumit Soren faces competition from multiple candidates. However, the main contest remains between JMM and BJP.

Local issues dominated the campaign narrative throughout the canvassing period. Development projects and employment opportunities featured prominently. Moreover, tribal welfare schemes were highlighted by both sides.

The Ghatshila constituency holds strategic importance for both parties. It serves as a political barometer for upcoming elections. In contrast, opposition views it as opportunity for comeback.
