JAMSHEDPUR – On the occasion of Chhath, the famous Jugslai Mahakaleshwar Chhath Ghat in Kolhan region attracted a massive turnout, with thousands of devotees gathering to offer their Arghya to the Sun God.

Decorated with dazzling lights and adorned like a bride, this unique Chhath Ghat witnessed devotees praying for the prosperity and well-being of their families.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by a ribbon-cutting event, led by Jugslai police station in-charge Nityanand Prasad and other notable local figures.

Extensive Facilities for Devotees

The Mahakaleshwar Chhath Ghat, known for its distinctive arrangements, saw devotees from Jamshedpur and nearby areas arrive in large numbers.

The Chhath Ghat Committee provided a range of facilities, including dedicated changing rooms, mobile toilets, ambulances, and children’s play areas.

This year, special walkways covered with mats were laid from the road to the ghat, ensuring smooth access for devotees observing the fast.

Special arrangements were also made for elderly and differently-abled devotees, with transport options available to help them reach the riverside with ease.

“We have ensured all facilities, from lighting to seating, for a smooth Chhath experience,” said committee member Amar Singh.

He further highlighted that about 35,000 devotees gathered at the ghat to celebrate the festival in a sacred and organized manner.

Voter Awareness Campaign

In addition to the traditional arrangements, the Mahakaleshwar Chhath Ghat Committee undertook a unique voter awareness campaign this year.

Through banners and posters, they encouraged attendees to participate in the upcoming elections, underscoring the importance of civic responsibility.

The committee’s efforts to promote voter awareness received positive responses from the attendees.

With divers and an ambulance on standby, alongside vigilant volunteers and local police, the ghat offered devotees a safe and comfortable environment.

Singh added, “We have every arrangement in place to ensure that devotees face no inconvenience during Chhath.”

From extensive decorations to key safety features, Jugslai’s Mahakaleshwar Ghat stood out as one of Kolhan’s top destinations for Chhath celebrations, embodying both reverence and community spirit.
