Shopkeepers at Kamani Center in Bistupur expressed their anger by closing their shops and protesting against the closure of toilets and drinking water taps. They demanded a resolution to their issues, threatening to escalate the matter to higher authorities if necessary. Eventually, the owner agreed to address their concerns.
JAMSHEDPUR – Shop owners and shopkeepers on the second and third floors of Kamani Center in Bistupur expressed their anger towards the building’s owner, Jai Kamani.
They closed their shops and staged a protest at the office of Jai Kamani’s Narbheram company due to the lockout of toilets and the closure of drinking water taps.
The shopkeepers strongly opposed these actions, stating that they were against the rules, regulations, and mutual agreements.
They warned that if the issues were not resolved promptly, they would escalate the matter to higher government authorities, including the administration, and even file a police report or approach the court if necessary.
Upon facing the fierce and aggressive attitude of the shopkeepers, Jai Kamani softened his stance and agreed to open the bathrooms and start the drinking water taps.
A large number of shopkeepers from Kamani Center visited his office, and the matter was temporarily resolved with the intervention of the police and administration.
Earlier, when the shopkeepers arrived to open their shops on Friday morning, they discovered that the bathrooms on the second and third floors were locked, and the drinking water taps were closed.
This upset the shopkeepers, who then approached Narbheram & Co., where they were informed that Jai Kamani had closed the facilities the previous night.
The shopkeepers expressed their anger and demanded an explanation from the accountant and caretaker of Kamani Center, but they were unable to provide a satisfactory answer.
The shopkeepers made it clear that if their issues were not addressed promptly, they would seek assistance from various authorities, including the Deputy Commissioner, SSP, JNAC, Bistupur police station, and even approach the government and court.
Eventually, in the evening, Jai Kamani opened the lock of one of the bathrooms in response to the protests.
The protest involved several shopkeepers, including Rahat Hussain, Kishore Hardaka, Sameer Makhani, Sandeep Tiwari, Satinder Singh Bunty, Sanjay Sabharwal, Rohit Agarwal, Rajeev Talwar, Hashim Raza, Madhu Hussain, Babu Vargi, Soma Ghosh, Rajiv Gandhi, Rashmi, and Manish Jain, the president of the Kamani Center Shop Honors Association.
It is worth noting that Kamani Center houses approximately 110 shops on its second and third floors, with most of them being sold to individual owners.
