Birdhouse Workshop Encourages Sustainability Among XLRI Students
Two-Day Environmental Workshop Focuses on Recycled Birdhouses
Students transform waste into birdhouses, emphasizing urban biodiversity and eco-responsibility.
Key Points:
- XLRI’s PEACE committee conducted a two-day workshop.
- Participants crafted birdhouses using recycled materials.
- Workshop highlighted practical environmental conservation methods.
JAMSHEDPUR – XLRI’s PEACE (People for Environmental Awareness and Conservation of Ecosystems) committee collaborated with Rotary Club’s Dr. Shams Khan to organize a hands-on workshop focused on environmental sustainability. As part of SustenXL-2025, the event spanned two days and showcased the importance of urban biodiversity.
Participants demonstrated their creativity by repurposing waste materials like wood, cardboard, and plastic into birdhouses and feeders. This activity not only reduced waste but also promoted eco-friendly practices. Students were visibly enthusiastic, showcasing their commitment to conservation.
Hands-On Learning Promotes Sustainability
The workshop provided a platform for students to engage directly in environmental conservation. By building practical solutions for birds, participants learned the value of sustainability and biodiversity preservation. Dr. Shams Khan lauded the initiative, saying, “Small, community-driven actions like these have a significant impact on our environment.” Similar efforts have been observed in other initiatives, such as Jamshedpur Cleans Dalma Hills: XLRI & Forest Dept Join Forces.
Inspiring Future Conservation Efforts
This initiative aimed to instill a sense of environmental responsibility among students. It encouraged creative thinking to tackle ecological challenges, leaving attendees inspired to implement similar projects in their communities. Such efforts echo the goals of XLRI Jamshedpur: Collaborative Effort Launched for Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary’s Eco-Sensitive Zone, which also focused on sustainability and biodiversity.
