JAMSHEDPUR – The Sikh community in Jamshedpur celebrated the 358th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji with grandeur on Monday. A spectacular Nagar Kirtan commenced from Telco Gurudwara and culminated at Sakchi Gurudwara in the evening.
Procession Highlights
The Nagar Kirtan, led by Panj Pyare, witnessed a large gathering of devotees. The procession traversed through prominent city routes including Telco, Tata Steel, Tinplate, Golmuri, and RD Tata Roundabout, finally reaching Sakchi Gurudwara. Upon arrival, the Palanquin Sahib, carrying Guru Maharaj’s symbolic representation, was greeted with a shower of flowers.
Devotional Enthusiasm and Participation
Devotees adorned themselves in vibrant yellow and blue turbans and scarves to honor the occasion. The event featured horse riders, Gatka performers, and musical groups from various schools and organizations, enhancing the spiritual fervor. Special Diwans were organized in all Gurudwaras, accompanied by continuous Langar services for the community.
Distinguished Guests and Upcoming Celebrations
Prominent attendees included MP Bidyut Baran Mahato, who was honored by the Central Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (CGPC) with an Angavastram. Notably, 2025 will witness the Guru’s birthday celebrated twice due to the alignment of the Hindu calendar. After Monday’s celebration, the 359th anniversary will be marked on December 27.
