RANCHI – Authorities intensified their crackdown on cybercrime in Jamtara, arresting two individuals in Karmatand.

Two suspects, including Tahir Ansari from Dumka, were caught red-handed while executing cyber scams. They used fake customer care numbers of e-commerce and e-payment firms to trick users.

Major Seizure of Devices

Police seized 16 mobile phones, 28 SIM cards, an iPhone, and a laptop. The arrested individuals, including Mujahid Ansari, manipulated users into installing remote access apps to access sensitive bank information.

The Modus Operandi

The criminals posed as customer service representatives. They lured victims into downloading Quick Support and AnyDesk apps, gaining unauthorized access to financial data. Their strategy involved exploiting customer grievances to perpetrate fraud.

Statement from Police

Chandrashekhar, a trainee DSP, highlighted the operation’s success in addressing increasing cyber frauds. “We acted swiftly based on credible information,” he stated.
