Adityapur Anti-encroachment Drive Halted Amid Protests

Local Outrage Pauses Adityapur Land Clearance Operation

The district administration’s anti-encroachment operation in Adityapur-2, Seraikela district, was met with local resistance and a temporary halt due to technical issues.

ADITYAPUR – On Saturday, the Seraikela district administration’s anti-encroachment operation on Road No. 14, Adityapur-2, under RIT police station, faced significant local opposition.

The administration arrived with a full task force, including SDM Parul Singh, DSP Chandan Vats, and officers from the Housing Board and local police stations.

The operation aimed to reclaim land allocated by the Housing Board to 18 individuals, 15 of whom had already been relocated.

However, three allottees’ appeal to the High Court led to a directive for the administration to take possession.

Local residents, long demanding a park and playground in the area, protested against the Housing Board’s actions.

Despite these protests and interventions advocating on behalf of the minister and the district commissioner, the operation commenced.

The clearance drive continued for about half an hour until a technical glitch in the JCB machine forced a pause.

During this brief period, one of the allottees was given possession.

Residents appealed for a temporary cessation of the operation, promising to bring a stay from the High Court within two days.

SDM Parul Singh agreed to postpone the operation for two days, with the condition that if the stay is not obtained post-Makar Sankranti, the operation will resume.
