Police Nab Key Suspect in Maoist Commander’s Murder Case

RANCHI – Latehar police achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting Chandra Dev Singh, a hardcore Maoist operative associated with the CPI (Maoist). The arrest led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles with foldable butts, four magazines, 91 live rounds, and Maoist literature, including three diaries.

Chandra Dev Singh, a resident of Kui village in the Manika police station area, is the primary suspect in the murder of CPI (Maoist) Zonal Commander Chhotu Kherwar. He has also been implicated in six criminal cases across Latehar district.

Details of the Arrest

Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav stated that the arrest followed a tip-off about Maoist activity in the Manika area. “Our intelligence suggested that Singh was planning a significant attack. Acting on this, we formed a specialized team to track and apprehend him,” said SP Gaurav. The team arrested Singh in a swift operation, marking a major success in the fight against insurgency.
