JAMSHEDPUR – Saarthak Chhibber, Aadil Bedi and N Thangaraja carded identical six-under 65s to share the first-round lead at the INR 3 crore TATA Steel Tour Championship 2024.
The tournament is being played across Beldih and Golmuri Golf Courses. Meanwhile, four players, including Bangladesh’s Jamal Hossain, are tied for second at five-under 66. The championship follows a unique two-course format.
Strong Start for Leaders
Chhibber displayed excellent ball-striking throughout his round. “The early birdies kept my momentum going,” remarked the Delhi golfer. Additionally, he capitalized on all par-5 opportunities.
Championship Format
Players alternated between the two courses for their front and back nines. Moreover, this format will continue for the remaining three rounds. The par for each round is set at 71.
Local Players’ Performance
Jamshedpur’s representatives faced challenges in the opening round. Furthermore, defending champion Gaganjeet Bhullar struggled with an even-par 71. Two-time winner Udayan Mane remains in contention at four-under.
