  • Innovation centers to be established for nurturing creativity.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a remarkable display of support, the alumni of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur have initiated a fundraising campaign to empower junior students pursuing innovative research and entrepreneurial ventures. The initiative aims to raise Rs 1 crore by 2030, with Rs 10.81 lakh already collected.

The fund will provide financial assistance to students, enabling them to turn their innovative ideas into reality. This initiative emerged during a recent alumni meet, where former students—many of whom are successful entrepreneurs and business leaders—expressed their commitment to giving back to their alma mater.

Prof. Gautam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, praised the initiative, stating, “This is a commendable effort. With this support, students will have the opportunity to realize their dreams and secure a brighter future. The alumni’s dedication to helping the next generation reflects their deep connection to the institute.”

The foundation of this effort was laid under the Pradhan Mantri Svanidhi Yojana, focusing on grassroots fundraising. Alumni have been contributing voluntarily, with the collective goal of achieving the Rs 1 crore target within the next six years.

In addition to the financial support, alumni have pledged to establish innovation centers at NIT Jamshedpur. These centers will serve as hubs for creativity, nurturing research and entrepreneurship among students.

RK Behera, a key alumnus and one of the strategy’s architects, assured ongoing support from the alumni network. “We are committed to helping students pursue innovation and entrepreneurial goals without financial hurdles,” he said.

This initiative is expected to create a transformative environment, providing aspiring engineers with the resources and opportunities to thrive in research and entrepreneurship.
