MEDININAGAR – Palamu police have dismantled a dacoit gang operating in the region, arresting four members and seizing weapons and looted items.

The arrests follow a robbery on October 24 in Gazbor village, Panki police station area, where a trader’s house was targeted. Subsequent investigations led police to Dhub village, resulting in the arrest of Upendra Kumar Vishwakarma. His information led to the capture of Satish Ram, Chhotu Kumar Singh, and Shatrudhan Kumar Verma.

Authorities recovered a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, and stolen jewelry from the suspects. Palamu SP Reeshma Ramesan stated that the six-member gang had three members already incarcerated. A Ranchi jeweler was also arrested for purchasing stolen gold from the gang.

The gang’s masterminds, Satish Ram and Satish Chandravanshi, have six FIRs filed against them in various Palamu police stations. In 2011, Satish Ram escaped police custody. Gang member Guddu alias Dharmendra is accused of Naxalite activities, while Gulshan Kumar Vishwakarma is linked to notorious gangster Sujit Sinha’s gang. Guddu Bhuiyan was arrested by Latehar police and is currently jailed; Gulshan was previously arrested.

The operation involved SDPO Lesliganj Manoj Kumar Jha, Inspector Poonam Toppo, Station In-charge Rajesh Ranjan, Sub-Inspectors Santosh Giri, Anup Topno, Shyam Bhagat, and other personnel.

Notably, Palamu police, with the Anti-Terrorist Squad’s assistance, recently apprehended six members of an organized crime syndicate tied to gangster Sujit Sinha, who were allegedly planning an intimidation scheme at a local stone crushing plant. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}
