MEDININAGAR – A series of robberies rocked Palamu as armed criminals struck at two locations on the same night, targeting a liquor shop and a Customer Service Point (CSP).
In the first incident at Singra, robbers raided a liquor store late Wednesday. They attacked the salesman, leaving him critically injured. The criminals escaped with an expensive case of liquor and ₹45,000 in cash. The victim was rushed to Medinirai Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, in Pokhraha Khurd, another group of assailants arrived at a CSP operated by Rakesh Mehta. They threatened him at gunpoint and made away with ₹50,000 in cash, a mobile phone, and a laptop. Both incidents occurred within the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station.
According to Sadar Police Station in-charge Uttam Kumar, efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Speaking to the media, he said, "Police teams are working to track down those responsible for these robberies. We are hopeful of swift arrests."
Palamu has witnessed an increase in such incidents, with criminals often targeting businesses handling significant cash flows. In similar cases earlier this year, banks and small retailers were also victimized.
The local community has urged authorities to enhance night patrols and security measures in vulnerable areas. Locals say that these incidents highlight the need for comprehensive crime prevention strategies in the district.
