Key Points:

* Former BJP leader’s rebellion could split traditional voting patterns
* Constituency has over 3.36 lakh voters across diverse demographic groups
JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur East assembly constituency braces for an intense triangular contest ahead of the November 13 polls.
BJP has fielded Purnima Das Sahu, Raghubar Das’s daughter-in-law, for this crucial seat.
Meanwhile, Congress has positioned former IPS officer Dr Ajoy Kumar as their candidate.
However, BJP rebel Shiv Shankar Singh’s independent candidacy has disrupted traditional political equations.
Moreover, Roy’s faction has reportedly aligned with Singh, potentially influencing voter decisions.
The constituency witnessed a similar upset in 2019 when independent candidate Saryu Roy defeated BJP.
Furthermore, the BJP is mounting an aggressive campaign to reclaim its former stronghold.
In addition, the constituency’s diverse electorate includes 1.66 lakh women and 1.69 lakh men voters.
On the other hand, political analysts suggest voter turnout could significantly impact the final outcome.
