RANCHI – Jharkhand plans to modernize its public distribution system with 4G-enabled e-POS machines for 25,000 dealers.

The initiative aims to eliminate technical issues. Current 2G machines face frequent connectivity problems.

Moreover, the upgrade will enhance biometric authentication. This ensures accurate beneficiary identification.

Implementation Plan

Meanwhile, the Food Department prepares tender proposals. Cabinet approval for the process is awaited.

Furthermore, maintenance services are mandatory. Participating agencies must provide equipment support.

The project includes annual maintenance costs. Rs 28.67 crore is allocated for upkeep.

Beneficiary Impact

Additionally, the system serves various card holders. This includes 2.64 crore NFSA beneficiaries.

On the other hand, state food security covers 20.29 lakh people. Green card holders receive special benefits.

Meanwhile, the previous cabinet approved this upgrade. The decision came on February 23, 2024.

Furthermore, Ranchi leads in dealer numbers. The district requires robust distribution systems.

The modernization promises efficient service delivery. Remote areas will benefit significantly.
