RANCHI – The Election Commission’s announcement of Jharkhand Assembly polls on November 13 and 20 has triggered a heated debate among political parties in the state.

JMM central general secretary Vinod Pandey voiced disappointment over the election timing.

He argued that the polls were scheduled before important state festivals and celebrations.

"Our government term extends until January," Pandey stated.

Moreover, he claimed the EC’s decision was unjust to the state government.

The JMM leader alleged that the BJP-led Centre influenced the EC’s decision.

However, Pandey expressed confidence in the ruling alliance’s ability to retain power.

Meanwhile, BJP state spokesperson Pratul Sahdeo dismissed allegations of early elections.

He defended the EC’s decision, stating it followed careful deliberation with stakeholders.

On the other hand, JMM leader Manoj Pandey raised concerns about the EC’s impartiality.

He suggested that BJP leaders had prior knowledge of the election announcement.

In contrast, the ruling alliance remains optimistic about its electoral prospects.

The JMM-led government recently approved an increase in financial assistance for women.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Hemant Soren confirmed the alliance will contest all 81 seats.

The BJP, meanwhile, has announced its seat-sharing arrangement within the NDA is nearly finalized.
