NIT Jamshedpur to Develop Remote Operated Underwater Vehicle

IIT Hyderabad-Funded Project Aims to Advance Deep-Sea Research

Key Points:

• NIT Jamshedpur launches project for deep-sea exploration vehicle

• Remotely controlled vehicle designed for sea floor operations

• Project funded by Autonomous Navigation Technology Innovation Center

JAMSHEDPUR – The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur has initiated an innovative project to develop a Remote Operated Underwater Vehicle (ROV) for deep-sea exploration.

The project aims to create a vehicle capable of operating on the sea floor.

This remotely controlled vehicle will explore depths previously inaccessible to scientists.

Moreover, the initiative is titled ‘Design and Development of Bio-Inspired Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle.’

The Autonomous Navigation Technology Innovation Center of IIT Hyderabad is funding the project.

Dr. Vijay Kumar Dalla from NIT Jamshedpur’s Mechanical Engineering Department is leading the research.

The vehicle will be specifically equipped for biological research in marine environments.

Furthermore, it will gather data on various marine organisms and underwater ecosystems.

This project aligns with IIT Hyderabad’s efforts to advance autonomous vehicle technology.

The Government of India is supporting these initiatives to push the boundaries of technological innovation.

NIT Jamshedpur is now hiring a Project Assistant to contribute to this groundbreaking research.

Applications for the position will remain open until September 20.

This initiative marks NIT Jamshedpur’s first foray into deep-sea remote-operated vehicle technology.

The project promises to make substantial contributions to biological research in marine environments.

By developing this ROV, NIT Jamshedpur aims to enhance our understanding of deep-sea ecosystems.

The collaborative nature of the project highlights the synergy between different technical institutions.

As the project progresses, it could pave the way for more advanced underwater exploration technologies.

The research team anticipates that the ROV will provide unprecedented access to deep-sea environments.

This initiative underscores India’s growing capabilities in advanced technological research and development.

The successful completion of this project could position NIT Jamshedpur as a leader in marine technology.
