Event Explores HR’s Role in Sustainability, Ethics, and Employee Well-being
XLRI’s conclave unites industry leaders to discuss HR’s evolving role in organizational ethics and sustainability.
JAMSHEDPUR – XLRI Xavier School of Management recently hosted the first-ever "HR for the Greater Good Conclave 2024," bringing together HR professionals and thought leaders.
The two-day event kicked off with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the spread of knowledge and wisdom.
Biranchi Das, Director Personnel at Sound Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), led the ceremony.
Other key participants included Fr S George, S.J., Prof. Sanjay Patro, Fr. Donald D’Silva, S.J., and Prof. Jatinder Kumar Jha.
Day one featured keynote addresses from distinguished industry leaders.
Dr. John Mathai, Dr. Nirav Mandir, and Mahesh Ramanujam shared insights on HR’s role in fostering ethical and sustainable practices.
A panel discussion explored HR’s responsibilities in driving organizational ethics and employee well-being.
Panelists included XLRI faculty members and industry experts.
The event saw participation from 14 prominent organizations, including major public sector enterprises.
Companies like Coal India, NLC India Ltd., and NTPC Ltd. showcased their HR policies and practices.
Day two began with a tree planting ceremony, emphasizing the conclave’s commitment to sustainability.
Dr. John Mathai delivered a keynote on challenges faced by HR professionals in public sector undertakings.
He emphasized the need for a balanced approach between bureaucratic processes and dynamic work environments.
Several companies presented their innovative HR practices and strategies for integrating sustainability.
Sourav Roy from TATA Steel Ltd. conducted an interactive workshop on Social Performance & Talent Imperative.
The HR Director’s Discussion segment allowed leaders to exchange ideas on current challenges and opportunities.
"This conclave has provided a unique platform for HR professionals to collaborate and share best practices in promoting organizational ethics and sustainability," said one participant.
The event concluded with an awards ceremony and cultural program.
