Passenger Protest Halts Trains at Govindpur Halt in CKP Rail Division
Commuters block Howrah-Mumbai main line over freight train prioritization
Frustrated passengers stopped trains and staged a protest at Govindpur railway halt over repeated delays.
JAMSHEDPUR – Commuters blocked the Howrah-Mumbai main line at Govindpur halt, protesting prioritization of freight trains over passenger services.
Angry travelers halted the Jhargram-Tata-Purulia MEMU passenger train at Govindpur railway halt, staging a sit-in on the tracks.
The protest disrupted train operations along the busy route.
Passengers complained about frequent delays to their daily commute while freight trains were given priority.
"Every day our trains run late, while goods trains are prioritized. This causes significant inconvenience for daily commuters and students," said Ramesh Kumar, a regular passenger.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) teams rushed to the scene upon receiving reports of the commotion.
They attempted to pacify the protesters and assured them that train operations would be improved.
Railway administration officials promised to take the passengers’ grievances seriously and implement appropriate solutions.
The Jhargram-Tata-Purulia train is heavily utilized by laborers, students, and other working professionals commuting to Jamshedpur for work and education.
Recent persistent delays have caused considerable hardship for these regular commuters.
This incident has once again highlighted the importance of punctual passenger train operations for the railway administration.
Commuters hope that the railway department will take swift action to address their concerns and improve service reliability.
