DAV Public School Hosts State-Level Wushu and Table Tennis Tournament

Over 400 participants from 10 Jharkhand clusters compete in DAV National Sports State Level Tournament in Jamshedpur.

DAV Public School, Bistupur, Jamshedpur, is hosting a two-day DAV National Sports State Level Tournament 2024 for Wushu and Table Tennis, with participants from across Jharkhand.

JAMSHEDPUR – DAV Public School, Bistupur, Jamshedpur, kicked off the DAV National Sports State Level Tournament 2024, focusing on Wushu and Table Tennis, with 446 participants and 55 escort teachers from ten clusters of Jharkhand.

The event began with the recital of the DAV Gaan, followed by a warm welcome from ARO cum Principal Mrs. Pragya Singh, who greeted the heads of the participating schools.

Notable attendees included Mrs. Mahua Singh of DAV Model School, CFRI, Dhanbad, Mrs. Chandrani Banerjee of TATA DAV School, Sijua, and several other esteemed principals from DAV schools across the state.

In her welcome address, Mrs. Pragya Singh expressed her gratitude to the dignitaries for their presence and encouraged the participants to maintain a balance between academics and sports.

She emphasized the importance of DAV National Sports, recognized by the Government of India, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, and urged the participants to play with enthusiasm and dedication.

The tournament was officially declared open by Mrs. Pragya Singh, and the participants were guided to their respective venues for the matches.

The first day saw remarkable performances, especially in Table Tennis, where participants across three categories—U-14, U-17, and U-19 for both boys and girls—showcased their skills.

Wushu matches were held across various weight and age categories, adding to the excitement of the event.

The day concluded with applause and cheers from the participants and spectators, highlighting the talent and camaraderie present throughout the tournament.

The winners of the State Level tournament will advance to the Nationals, set to take place at different centers assigned by DAV CAE, New Delhi.

The finals and the award ceremony for the ongoing matches are scheduled for tomorrow.
