A Congress leader narrowly escaped unharmed after criminals opened fire in Jamshedpur’s Jugsalai area late last night, sparking panic in the locality.
JAMSHEDPUR – Congress leader Abhijeet Singh narrowly escaped after unidentified assailants opened fire at an event in Jugsalai’s Girls School Road late last night.
The incident occurred during a religious event organized by Singh, where he was distributing offerings along with his associates.
He alleged that suddenly, a group of 12 to 15 men, led by 3 persons from Bagbera, arrived in cars and motorcycles and began firing indiscriminately.
Two individuals narrowly escaped as bullets grazed them, leaving the area in a state of chaos.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after and have since recovered several bullet casings.
Providing details, Abhijeet Singh said, “We were distributing offerings when suddenly a group of armed men started firing. It’s fortunate that no one was seriously injured. The attackers have a criminal background.”
The police are now investigating the incident, with initial findings suggesting an old dispute as a possible motive.
However, the police have refrained from making any official statements as the investigation is ongoing.
This incident has heightened tensions in the area, with residents and authorities on alert.
