Alcoholic Husband Attacks Wife, Family Intervenes and Hands Him to Police

A distressing incident in Murgaguttu of the Gamharia police station area resulted in a husband stabbing his wife under the influence of alcohol.

JAMSHEDPUR – In a violent domestic dispute in Murgaguttu, Seraikela Kharsawan district, Shambhu Nayak, reportedly intoxicated, attacked his wife Lalita Nayak with a vegetable knife, injuring her back.

The incident occurred when Shambhu came home drunk and began quarreling with his wife. The altercation escalated, leading to the stabbing.

Upon hearing her cries, family members intervened, subdued Shambhu, and after beating him, handed him over to the police.

The injured Lalita was promptly taken to MGM Hospital by her relatives, where she is currently receiving medical treatment.

Gurwari Nayak, the mother-in-law, provided insights into the troubled marriage, noting that Shambhu’s alcohol dependency and unemployment have been ongoing issues since the couple’s marriage 12 years ago.

She revealed that both she and Lalita have been supporting the family financially by working in a kiln, as Shambhu’s addiction has led to frequent and escalating conflicts.
